2. LEARNING OUTCOMES

Learning Outcomes

The course introduces the students in the  energy audit and energy  efficiency in buildings.

Upon successful completion of the course the student will be able to:

  • Analyze the data required for the energy audit of buildings.
  • Calculate the energy balance, heating and cooling loads of buildings and scenarios of energy efficiency .
  • Evaluate the parameters that affect the energy behavior of buildings.

3. COURSE SYLLABUS

  1. Introduction. Energy policy and regulations
  2. Basic objectives and benefits of energy audit.
  3. Energy analysis and the importance of energy pricing in energy costs.
  4. The audit process of the building envelope.
  5. Electrical systems.
  6. Heating, cooling, air conditioning systems.
  7. Principles and instruments for inspection of boilers and heating systems.
  8. Validation and energy certification of different types of buildings.
  9. Energy efficiency scenarios.
  10. Computational tools.
  11. Energy metering and monitoring systems and instruments.
  12. Design and installation of energy monitoring networks.
  13. Fault detection and diagnosis.
