2. LEARNING OUTCOMES

Learning Outcomes

The objective of the course is understanding of strategic management and it focuses on a) fundamental concepts of business evaluation, b) strategic planning of knowledge based and technology projects and c) the investigation of investment conditions for cleaner technologies. Upon successful completion of this course the students will acquire new knowledge and specific skills on the following subjects:

  • Can compose a business model with emphasis to innovative technologies
  • Implement methods and techniques for business plan
  • Will use technical knowledge acquired throughout her studies to evaluate opportunities from the conception of the business idea
  • Can evaluate the sustainability of business plans
Will gain knowledge on how to set up a new business operation

3. COURSE SYLLABUS

  1. Financial Analysis: Accounting and balance sheet, business ratios, profitability
  2. Financial Analysis: cost assessment and pricing, break-even point, funding sources.
  3. Green Entrepreneurship: Green accounting and cost assessment
  4. External Environment: Economy, Technology, Nature, Society, Institutions, Politics. Porter model and competition. Barriers to entry
  5. External Environment: buyers and sellers, competitive position and programming
  6. Internal Enviroment: Sources and capabilities, competitive advantage, value chains
  7. Internal Enviroment: comparative modeling, outsourcing
  8. Mission – Organizational Structure – Strategy: Business mission, success factors
  9. Mission – Organizational Structure – Strategy: strategy levels and classification
  10. Innovation – New Venture Development: evaluation of inventions commercial value, new products/process/technologies.
  11. Start-ups and spin-offs.
  12. The Business Plan: Business model canvas
  13. The Business Plan: Set-up with specialized software and implementation
