2. LEARNING OUTCOMES

Learning Outcomes

This course aims to provide students with the basic principles of chemical processes used in water and wastewater treatment, as well as the methods for the technical design of installations and equipment.

Upon successful completion of this course the students will acquire new knowledge and specific skills on the following subjects:

  • Will have knowledge of the basic principles and characteristics of chemical processes
  • Will learn the basic tools, methods and techniques for analysis of treatment systems of water and wastewater using chemical processes (chemical treatment of water and wastewater)
  • Will be capable to perform the basic design calculations regarding the dimensions of tanks, reactors and related equipment, as well as select the technical specifications of the required electrical/mechanical systems of individual processes in the framework of dealing with specific environmental problems.
  • Can evaluate or assess optimal (technically and environmentally) solutions under realistic conditions.
