  • Systems & ecosystems. Meaning and use of models. Succession and stability. Mathematical models of ecosystems. Organizations and environmental factors. Categories of organizations and their interaction with the environment. The organization at the level of populations. Models of a population size change. Interaction populations. The organization at the level of ecosystems. Energy flow. Limiting factors. Movement of chemicals in ecosystems. Ecological succession. Ecological quality and degradation of natural environment. Habitats - biodiversity. Introductory information on toxic pollution, water pollution and air. Sources and effects of water pollutants. Addressing water pollution. Environmental Indicators

Laboratory exercises:

  • Ten lab exercises - team reports: 60% of the Lab grade
  • Final written lab exam: 40% of the Lab grade
