Course contents:

Introduction to thermodynamics; basic concepts;  forms of energy and energy transfer;  properties of pure substances; first law of thermodynamics; energy analysis of open and closed systems; second law of thermodynamics; entropy; air and steam thermodynamic cycles; refrigeration cycles; Maxwell relations.

Assessment and grading method:

  • Four Problem sets (optional), 40% of the grade (bonus)
  • Final closed-book written exam, 100% of the grade
